Acne: Causes, Symptoms and Treatments
Acne is the skin disorder appearing cause of blockage on hair follicles. It is a misconception that acne only appears over face. Regardless of the sex and age, acne can appear over chest, back and face. Though it is quite common to have acne and more often than not during physical changes in body (12-17 years) it does happen. Cause of Acne
When it comes to acne, there is not a single definite reason as it appears because of combined efforts of several factors. Because of hormonal changes, oil glands are associated with hair follicles. Basically it is a natural element that is present to keep the skin protected. More than usual production of oil results in acnes as it blocks the area. What this so called bump does is provide access to bacteria into inside layers of skin. It results in acne in the form of inflammation. It has often been seen that acne turn into white head. It is actually the situation where oil beaks through. Bear in mind stress, particular food items and drugs do not cause acne.
Symptoms of Acne
Symptoms of acne depend on the type of problem you are suffering with. If acne on your body is inflamed, you may experience bumps over infected area, colour tone of the skin on that particular area may change. You can feel the roughness of the skin. Redness is never a symptom of non inflamed acne. Blackheads are one of the key signs of such type of acne.
On the other hand while you are suffering with inflamed acne, the situation is completely different. Reddening of skin is the major symptom of acne. Papules and nodules will also appear quite clearly. People are seen developing swelled surface with oozing of whitish semi liquid material.
Treatment of acne
Though acne is quite common among people in different age groups and it should not be given so much concern. But if it is really bothering you, washing the skin with moisturized face wash can be beneficial. People with oily hair should shampoo on every alternate day. Scratching or itching over infected area should be avoided. Try not to touch the skin with your hands. There are numerous medical treatments in the form of creams available. You can put these directly over infected area. If after applying all possible remedies your problem of acne remains same, you should visit a doctor. Antibiotics can be beneficial in some cases.
