CaptionKit Tutorial : Using the caption listOverview » Starting a new project » Using the caption list » Publishing your project The CaptionKit Software is available now. You can view the help files here, which have full details about how to produce subtitled media using CaptionKit. This picture shows the captions list as you build your presentation. Descriptions of the screen areas follow below.
Scenes allow you to break up your presentation into bite sized chunks for easy viewing. They are also used as 'section indexes' for easy reference. The 'Open / Close scene' buttons expand and shrink each scene when clicked, so you don't have to scroll through the whole list of captions. CaptionKit automatically maintains a list of actors for you. The actor shown was the one selected when you pressed the 'Caption' button or F7 key. You can change the selection by using the 'Edit' button. Clicking the time code for each caption automatically scans to that point in the video for you to review the speech. This is much more accurate than using the slider control to position the video. Clicking this button will move to that point in the video, and begin playing. The caption is loaded into the caption entry box, ready for editing. The actor for this caption is also selected. You can change the actor by clicking on an existing actor from the actor list, or creating a new actor then pressing 'Continue' or F8. Clicking this button will delete a caption from the list. It's useful if you have overlapped or duplicated some text and need to remove it. |
